Homeschooling and the Socialization Myth “Do you have any Friends?”

Often my “friends” will ask me “wow….I didn’t know you homeschooled…. so do you have any friends?”

Here is my ridiculous video response to that ridiculous question.

Feel free to share this with friends to help bust the “Homeschoolers have no friends” myth.

All the best,

The Decision that will Determine your Child’s Destiny

Every parent in America who has a school-age child has a decision to make. It’s a decision that can determine a child’s destiny. A child can be educated in one of three ways

  1. Public School
  2. Traditional Private School
  3. Homeschool

Think about that…no parent can escape this decision and there are only 3 options.

All of us make hundreds of decisions on a day-to-day basis like whether to drink orange juice, milk, or water with our breakfast, whether we’ll fill up our car with regular or premium gasoline, whether to stick to our diet or splurge, but sometimes we get so caught up with making little decisions that we fail to recognize the monumental decisions in life.

The worst mistake I’ve made in the past was deciding on something of monumental importance in a sloppy, haphazard, unconscious, and care-free manner without reflection, meditation, and patience. Considering that your child’s destiny depends on the decision you make for his or her education, and considering that your child is hopefully more important to you than anything in the world… how do you make an informed and thoughtful decision when choosing  between the 3 educational options?

While most people are very familiar with educational options #1 and #2 (public school and private school), very few people understand the true nature of homeschooling. Why? Because I think that in order to fully recognize the power of homeschooling you have to be a homeschooler.

There are some things in life you can only understand through experience.

To illustrate this, suppose I tried to describe to you what a rose smells like. I could talk for hours mentioning every detail of the smell but you’d have absolutely no idea what the rose actually smells like unless you’ve personally smelled one before.

Let’s extend this analogy. If you’ve never homeschooled before, then all you’ve heard is a description of what a rose smells like. I challenge you to actually walk into the garden, pick a rose, close your eyes, and smell the rose yourself. Then, and only then, can you say that you understand what homeschooling is all about.

Here’s what I’m trying to say,

Homeschool for a year! Take the “1 year Homeschool Challenge” and find out for yourself what homeschooling can do for your family.

If homeschooling doesn’t end up working out then you can always just return to your normal school. No harm done. But…there’s a really good chance that once you experience the power of homeschooling you’ll never want to go back!

Share Your Homeschooling Story – Be Featured in the Book!

My name is Austin, I’m an 11 year homeschooler, I come from a homeschooling family, and I’d like to reach out to the homeschooling veterans for help with a project called “The Homeschooling Revolution”. I made a short video with my laptop this morning which explains the project and what you can do to help.

Leave a comment below if you have a story, insight, or anything else you’d like to share! You could be featured in the book or blog!
